Tools

First, download tor and firefox, tor is mainly for safe downloading while firefox is great for searching because of the extensions ublock, lllll, and lllll. your main tools to check then extract files should be virustotal, utorrent, and winrar (duh..). A vpn is recommended but not needed depending on how severe your internet service provider (will be abbreviated to ISP from now) is as they can see what you download if not using one, its a common misconception that you can use a hotspot as a vpn, you cant. your ISP wont know that youre using your mobile hotspot to torrent, but your carrier will. and they aren't going to be happy either, just get a paid vpn as free ones usually dont work well or can be dangerous, IVPN is one i recommend. (yes you CAN pirate without a vpn, sometimes your ISP wont care, mine doesnt at all or hasnt noticed somehow, but a vpn is still recommended to be safe)

Games

A list of sites can be found on the megathread, personal ones i always use are cs.rin.ru, fitgirl, and steamrip, fitgirl is better for file size but may not have indie games as well. nearly all links on these sites are safe and if you get something from a different site i recommend checking it with virustotal just to be safe. if you are unable to find a game from these ones, it might be too niche, try other sites on the megathread, request a crack, or just buy it at that point as search result sites with "cracks" are FULL of viruses, real piracy sites dont show up in search results, you usually have to directly search the correct domain

Software

Software such as procreate, adobeslop, or other tools that have some shitty subscription/paid fee NOBODY LIKES!!!!! theyre a little harder to crack because of how you have to extract them, usually requiring multiple downloads and replacing files, but work fine. for music plugins or other programs, rutracker is a goto for me, others like linkhere and linkhere are useful but double check them with virustotal as program sites usually arnt as moderated.

Communities

theres also some sites exclusive for discussion such as r/piracy itself and the actual forum section of cs.rin.ru, people are friendly here so feel free to ask simple questions! game discussion is also held on cs.rin, not just piracy, feel free to ask about modding, editing saves, or more technical stuff about specific games. you can usually request cracks on cs.rin aswell, it may take a while if the game isnt too popular however.
